Perhaps you have decided to try Oracle Unbreakable Linux. What could be better than an OS provided by the database vendor, running in a VM provided by the same vendor, an end to all the finger pointing, 100% supported end-to-end?

Yes that’s right, Oracle forgot to install some of the prerequisites for its own software in its own Linux distribution. The swap size? The default chosen by the installer too, as are the kernel parameters. Easy enough to fix myself but c’mon, really? REALLY? The RPMs are even on the media…
